I predict that Kenny Eli Rozenberg will sell El Al in about a year when things max out...

A few days ago bought a flight for tomorrow and the protect $29. Trying to cancel and they said could not. Why not? Is it because it's within 24 hours of flight? Will it work to change to a later date then cancel?

Bump, elal kept quoting a 24 hour minimum time to cancel when using the protect voucher. In order not to lose the ticket as no show, they `froze' it.

but now changing the flight to any other is being quoted at $500 more than whatever the website shows. Any ideas?

Yes, they got back to me 22 days later with the resolution.

Here's an update. On 7/13 I got this:

As of 8/2 there was no sign of anything so I followed up and got this reply back on 8/10:

And today there is still no sign of anything so I followed up again  :-[. Keep in mind the original date of loss was 6/5.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I'm in the same boat as Reb Shmooz was last week.  Does anyone know if I could change and then cancel using the protect? Shmooz, what did you do?

It seems to definitely need 24 hours for protect, there might be a separate waiver depending when you bought your ticket, I *think* it needs 6 hours. You cannot change ticket easily to another flight and cancel. Mine is on freeze while I fight with them. Worst case is $270 to cancel.

Baggage allowance question here.
Elal seems to have the most confusing allowance rules.
I'm Matmid Gold and my reservation says 2 travelers get a total of 23kg x6 (3 bags each)

Meanwhile, their website says Gold members get a maximum of 2 bags (no more than 32kg or 50lbs)
https://www.elal.com/eng/frequentflyer/myffp/tier_lobby1/gold_p1

When I spoke with a Philippines based rep and pointed out that 32kg = 70lbs not 50lbs, she started saying obvious untruths that the 32kg is a combined amount for both checked bags, and was adamant that it's 2 checked bags for a Gold member. Then when I had her look up my actual booking and she saw that it's 3, she said it seems you received a benefit for being Gold.
I asked to simply tell me how many bags a Gold member gets and what weight for each when flying economy vs premium economy vs business and she couldn't answer.
I'm flabbergasted that Elal's own phone reps don't have this information and their website has contradictory stuff posted.

Can anyone make sense of this?
Does anyone have an actual written policy for Matmid status members to understand what baggage benefits they get?

My booking (screenshot above) shows 3x 23kg.

Where do you see 2x 32 kg? Can you share link to that?
The link I shared says 32kg or 50lbs which doesn't add up and the phone rep said it's 50lbs.

Is your gold status properly showing up in the PNR?

Did you buy a premier seat which comes with two bags, plus the extra one you're getting for being a gold member?

Yes, but as a Gold member, I should already be getting that, and should be 32kg
