What about from TLV? Used to be 3 hours recommended. 6am flight.
I came 1.5 hours before my flight, already checked in previously and used the self tag bag drop. Got through in plenty of time despite 3 full flights to NY departing around the same time
Don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers

Never used bag drop but I'll try it. In case I'm just standing on line , is it still 3 hours?

PSA: check in as soon as online check in is available. Our daughter had a flight this afternoon Israel time in TLV to JFK. She got to the airport over four hours before the flight. despite having a confirmed ticket and an assigned seat that we booked back in the summer they told her that the flight was overbooked and she was being involuntarily bumped because other passengers had checked in earlier.

She pushed back, but the supervisors refused to do anything despite the confirmed seat. They wanted to put her on a flight leaving 12 hours later that is also fully booked. We were able to reach out to a couple of people with some connections higher up in El Al and push her back onto the flight at 4 am our time after a couple of tense hours, but moral of the story seems to be to check in early these days since El Al is over booking their flights. It could be that they targeted her because they figured a lone seminary girl would be an easy person to bump but definitely pays to check in early.

You can still get bumped even if you checked in early

Sure but there’s an order of priority even for economy. Checking in earlier helps.

Normally yes, but 1500 shekel to get switched to another overbooked flight landing erev shabbos before a simcha is not worthwhile.

I have a business class seat on a flight from ewr next week. If i volunteer to be downgraded to premium economy for compensation, What is the probability of them accepting.?

Urgent:
A friend of mine had a Delta flight booked with SkyMiles that got cancelled. DL agreed to rebook on LY on dates that had award availability. A few weeks ago I got her rebooked for a flight tomorrow, she got a confirmation & ticket number for the new LY flights from FLL-TLV. Today the reservation wasn’t appearing on LY or DLs websites. DL rep claims that LY is no longer releasing awards to them and therefore cancelled the ticket without any notice.
What do I do now? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Flight back to Newark tonight delayed 6.5 hours for what seems to be operational reasons. Will that trigger EU comp? Can I submit a claim for hotel+food? Or should I consider myself lucky that we have seats and call it a day?

IINM

Flights between Israel and US are not subject to EU comp
You can claim food
You cant claim hotel because it's less than 8 hours delay  ::)

Very unfortunate, but it happens frequently.

Out of curiosity why would it trigger EU compensation?
Will a delay better England and New York trigger Australian compensation?
Did you purchase the ticket in the EU?
Have a connecting itinerary to the EU?
Assuming if you worded the question like that you had a reason for..

I think it a DROPR. But still need to figure this out and know if there’s any solution. Ticket was mysteriously cancelled 2 days after rebooking with no notification.
