Have an early morning LY flight ex-TLV to Europe with carry on only.

Is there still a dedicated line for this or do I need to wait on the long security line? How much time should I leave for a 5:30A flight Wed.?
They still have an separate line area W, it's usually empty. I'd say 1.5 hours before should be fine.

Also, how makpid are they on the weight of the carry on?
IME they only weigh it at the check-in counters so if you avoid that you should be fine

Recently  used the bag drop at TLV, it was very fast, maybe 15 minutes from entering till the x-ray machines  They told me can't use it if you have a connection you need them to tag (self transfer is okay). Also, when choosing an airline, only elal appeared on the screen.

I consider 15 min from entering till gate to be slow

IINM The machines give options for the airlines in that counter area specifically.
Area D machines will only have ElAL as they are the only airline that ever uses those counters.

Heard from someone who seems to be in the know that El Al’s been doing this pretty regularly Motzai Shabbos only to jump the flight time back up to 11 on Motzai Shabbos to try to get frum passengers to not all show up at 930 Motzai Shabbos. Hope that’s true.

The El Al representative on the phone claimed all flights for the next week from both EWR and JFk are overbooked by 5 passengers, and there is no availability out of Boston or Miami either. I wonder if this is a way to free up a few seats as well…
Left 5 min after 72 got to JFK by 8 and had no problem checking in the luggage (printed the boarding pass on Friday). They never changed the official new 955 departure time but sure enough there was “a delay” and they ended up leaving just after 11…..

I have a flight to Europe on United and have a separately booked onward flight with ELAL to TLV, connection time is 2:10h. Would anyone know if there is a possibility to have UA tag it all across, even more important will ELAL accept it?
Any tips or suggestions on how I can avoid having to go through passport control and then collect my bag and recheck etc? Airport is FCO I heard it’s a messy airport.
I have done it twice recently in opposite direction ELAL to UA, and once UA to a non star alliance airline, but never to ELAL

That's a very tight connection relying on an agent in the airport to tag in a way that's unconventional at best. What if you don't get it tagged through and then you only have 2 hours to pick up your bags and recheck? What's your plan b?
Maybe one of the experts here can fill in the details about this plan.

Shocked. Shocked I tell you that Tech Air isn't working as planned.
Once the war is over, LY will lose a lot of tech clients - that much I can tell you  :)

What was ELAL supposed to do? That idea to save some seats is a pretty good one, but what else can they do?

They shouldn't have boosted prices.

The whole supply/demand argument doesn't stand when supply is so limited. It just make people pay more, doesn't deter anyone from flying.

They also did things that are simply mean - like zeroing biz saver inventory, even one year out from today. It would have killed them to leave one or two seats open, especially as their profitability is so high?

I beg to differ. (Basic economics also does  ;D)
I know plenty people who normally flew multiple times a year (pleasure and the like) and have flow little if at all since ST specifically bec of the prices.
From an economics perspective, if anything, LY did not raise prices high enough.
