I beg to differ. (Basic economics also does  ;D)
I know plenty people who normally flew multiple times a year (pleasure and the like) and have flow little if at all since ST specifically bec of the prices.
From an economics perspective, if anything, LY did not raise prices high enough.
I understand basic economics  ;D

Obviously they could have charged more. They are charging over $10k for C class RT to NY - I understood that on some flights they have close to one hundred people on wait-list to pay these fares. Could they boost that to $20k - sure.

OPs question was what were they supposed to do.

Right now a good chunk of the public opinion accuse them of profiteering. So charging more isn't really the direction they would want to take to maintain their branding long term.

Anyway - just my 2 cents - obviously they went a different way - they know better :)

I don't know how high business class was, but they kept economy class relatively low for what they could have changed and if they kept it lower then there would be even less availability for someone making a last-minute trip. I do hear your point and experiences regarding the high business class prices. Although, I don't see any other airline charging less if they were the sole provider in this type of situation where there is still very high demand.

There really isn't any good populist answer for what they should do.
If they leave prices low, than there wouldn't be any available seats at all. For anyone, till the end of bookings. And they'd still be getting killed for not having any seats for the tech boys, or true emergencies.
If they raise prices so that they discourage non essential travel, and to ration the available seats to people who truly NEED to travel, then they get accused of profiteering...

The alternative options are really the purview of the ministry of transportation to arrange.

I booked tickets through ElAl to fly Delta from BUF to JFK and ElAl to TLV.  Does my luggage go straight through or do I need to recheck?

My LY flight JFK-TLV last week was delayed 3+ hours...whats best way (if any) to request compensation (Airhelp charges 35%...)?

What really bothered me was my return flight Sunday 4PM TLV-JFK (LY 11) yesterday had a 2.5 hr delay and no chance of ever being on time as the incoming Sat 11PM JFK-TLV (LY 08) was always SCHEDULED to land 4PM... I noticed this before my trip but told myself they probably use another 787 from EWR/LHR/FLL routes for the Sun TLV-JFK 4PM flight....but low and behold we just waited for the 11PM LY 8 to arrive and be cleaned...https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/4x-edi

Assuming this has been talked about?

certain flights can be cancelled for a voucher on elal site, see if it allows. If not try emailing elal directly or whatsapp or call israel office (call usa number and choose hebrew should work)  to see if they will issue a voucher for full amount, they might.  If not, unfortunately  you are stuck, which is why there is a lot of discussion on this thread how to apply the protect insurance on these kinds of tickets.

If your connecting flights are on the same ticket and with the same airline or under a codeshare agreement, your baggage is usually transferred automatically.

The reviews in general are usually given by people suffering from an Airline not those who enjoyed it unless there was something special.
Which means any online review will generally have very bad reviews on good products.
(Chase sapphire had a terrible review because someone didn't understand how to use their website and you don't have to be a genius to write reviews with spelling mistakes. - I hope you get the idea.)

The whole thing doesn't make any sense. They rated brussels airlines as the best airline in the world. I can assure you its not. Most surprisingly it got the highest score of any major airline for claim processing which for anyone who has ever made a claim from LH group is just a joke.

Which airlines have a codeshare agreement with Elal?
I'm looking to combine 2 tickets without having to recheck the baggage.

that will depend on the agent checking you in, if that agent wont want to do it there's no way for it to go through unless its on the same ticket

Correct. no tricks. travel agents can book two tickets in one reservation which makes the chances better, though nothing is guaranteed.
PM me for a good deal on flights
