If someone has El Al Silver status and is flying Virgin Atlantic to London, then connecting to an El Al flight to Israel, do the Silver benefits (like extra baggage) apply from the Virgin leg or only on the El Al flight

When checking in luggage from TLV to NYC, Elal started allowing duffle bags to be checked as regular luggage without having to go drop them off at the oversized bags, however, we had a small, soft cooler bag which had liquids and were planning on asking them at the gate to check it in. When checking in our luggage, they said we can check it in there as well without having to pay for an extra bag, but they sent usto the oversize bag drop for that little bag because it was "soft".. cost us about half an hour...

When I travel with Polar Bear bags they always send me the oversized bag drop. Huge waste of time

You're lucky. I waited over 2 hours and almost missed my flight. Completely inefficient process.
