Just curious, why would they only fly a 737 with so many people stranded there? Ly4 landed there with a 787 so I'm assuming the runway is big enough for those planes

if the runway gets hit while it on the ground in TLV it needs a much shorter runway...
has less people, which is the point - they don't want tons of people on the ground in TLV

No, it means that El Al leadership knew what they needed to do, but in order to have less friction with those without these 'sensitivities', they did it the official way- by asking the Rabbi.

Iran isn't the only country/territory thar Israel is afraid of.

And since this time WE started the war, so there isn't any need to show that that THEY won't close our country. And this time Israel feels the luxury of taking all possible precautions.

Elal just canceled my flight from TLV-EWR on Tuesday we’ll. They said they can’t rebook me at this time but can only offer me a refund or a travel voucher. That really screws me because the next available flight for booking in is July.

Hopefully will find an alternative option to leave before TLV opens. Being that my flight was booked with Virgin points is my only option to get a travel voucher? Or will they give me a refund of the value of the ticket?
