Can someone please tell me what everyone has against elal here?
My friend is chartering an elal flight this week and speaks to the big guys daily.

I am curious what elal would answer.

One thing that I don't understand, each time I flew Elal, F was empty, no need for 8 seats if window doesn't have aisle access.
Dan spoke once for an hour I think with one of the big guys and got no where. Don't even waste your time. They honestly think that the Matmid system is the best FF system in the industry.

Not that I think it will help.

I bash them also but many here that bash Elal premium class never flew it. There seems to be an excitement in it. Its mostly the attitude they give off. I would say LY J was better then UA J IMO.

I can only speak for myself, and to some it up in one word: Attitude!

Now if we wanted to elaborate a little more, it's starts with the negative attitude many frum people experienced from ELAL, it continues with the apparent arrogance of ELAL which conveys the subliminal message of "you should thank us for being here" rather than "what can we do to serve you". Also ELAL flights tend to have (understandably) a high percentage of Israelis, so one might also get some negative experience there (on the plus side, one can have the opportunity to interact with a jew that knows little or nothing about Yiddishkeit and have a positive influence on that jew).

I can only contrast the attitude displayed towards me when I went for my father's levaya on ELAL, with the attitude I got from BA (and to the best of my knowledge, the British don't have such a reputation as אוהבי ישראל) when I landed at JFK on a Friday afternoon. I can only say that ELAL has rightfully earned my years long ban.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I've flown El Al business at least a half a dozen times over the last few years, and every time has been delightful.  They're good about the meals.  They let me open the wine, and keep it with me (within reason).  I never had a problem with davening.  They're great on the ground.  No complaints!!

Just bought a ticket with AA that stops in CDG and then shows an AA flight number "Operated by EL AL" to and from TLV.  Does anyone know if AA counts miles for these flights because it was purchased from AA and has an AA flight number?
Also, does anyone know if the ELAL part would invalidate the fly to Europe promotion? (On the phone they said it counts for the promo, but I also emailed them and they said it wouldn't. That would be unfair.)

You won't earn AA miles on the LY part, though can prob earn QF.

Would be surprised if the phone rep is correct

Ended up earning miles for the whole thing, including the part operated by LY, and getting the fly business to europe promo and fly AA business long-haul promo. Also worked out to be very well timed, because AA is shifting to the revenue based system at the end of the month.

What miles did you get for the LY legs? AA?

I just flew TLV-LAX on LY  F  and  EWR-TLV  on UA J.

ELAL  service is much better then UA.
The only thing UA is better is that it's cheaper (57.5k SQ miles no fuel)

Leaving TLV there's nothing like flying LY, 6 checkin counters, never have to wait on line.
With UA there's only 2 counters for premier access, for 50 J pas. + 50 card holders....

King David lounge (first class has a separate lounge) you can't compare it to Dan.

By the way the fast line for security in TLV is probably the best I have ever seen in any airport, EMPTY! (not only for elal)

I felt like in LH F about the service, the food was excellent, everything kosher, real proper food.
But I found it funny that there isn't anywhere to put your stuff.
I had a middle seat and the one next to me was empty so it worked out very well.
The seat maybe isn't like LH but in F they put down a mattress

But now I saw what's more important to me - to feel at home   הכי בבית בעולם.

I have a friend that flies LY F every week, to NY or to HKG.
He told me if I will get "Motti Lavi" as the head cabin crew on my flight I will be in good hands.
And guess who I got? I came on the plane someone greets me right away and I looked on his tag - "Motti Lavi" I asked if he knows my friend, he told me sure, he's a TOP PL...I should send regards, I took a picture with him in the end of the flight to show my friend.
Motti went out of his way a few times for me, I liked it very much.

UA J
I had to ask 3 times to take my coat and they forgot to bring it to me when landing, only when everyone was leaving the plane they came with it.
Food was inedible, crew was very not friendly, dark skinned and more on the bigger side ודי למבין.
I couldn't decide what appetizer I wanted, she told me "you lost your chance, I am on for the next pas."

Couldn't agree more, LY has great service on their premium products VS. United.

LY F is better better that DL J/UA J, but LY J is not the greatest but not bad at all.

couldn't agree with you more it was a real good experience flying ly F ex-tlv.(not to mention pre take off chocolate )

One thing that bothered me was the tray table was not spaced enough and was pressing against my stomach unlike other carriers in J/F (but that is only if you have a big stomach )

Also, you mentioned middle seat...
what plane was it? Afaik F don't have middle seats.

Have never been on LY F or J. I've boycotted them for years based on personal experience in Y.

I do hear that they really treat their REAL frequent flyers well. Otherwise from what I've seen/heard they are doing you a favor by serving you, rather than doing their job and trying to earn your loyalty by serving you.

My best experience TLV-JFK was on DL J, and in all honesty, while decent food is nice to have, that is never a determining factor in which airline to choose.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

He meant the middle section.

Right it was  2-2-2    http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/El_Al/El_Al_Boeing_777-200_B.php

When I finished the main course they brought me warm pastries from the oven and a chocolate cake with melted chocolate running.

I just hope they partner up one day with someone that it will cheaper then matmid.
