So I'm looking at flights from NYC to TLV next summer (late June/early July) and non-stop flights are about $1500. Currently there are 2 Saturday night flights, one from JFK at 11:45 PM and the other from EWR at 9:30 PM. Do they really stick to that 9:30 PM flight from EWR on Saturday night? That's not even close to doable for anyone keeping Shabbos no matter how close to Newark you live. You can be staying at an onsite hotel and still wouldn't be able to make that flight.

They have such flights. But generally if departure time is an hour after Shabbos and you check in before Shabbos and are flying without luggage, it's "theoretically" possible to make the flight if you're in/right next to the airport Shabbos

On June 29, 2019, Shabbos is over at 9:23 in that area. That gives you 7 minutes. I don't think that's even theoretically possible. A 9:30 flight merely satisfies El Al's rule prohibiting flying on Shabbos but that's all. Not a single Shabbos observer can be on that flight.

They are perfectly ok with that. They also fly a regular schedule on Yom Tov Sheini even though no one observant can fly with them (ex-USA)
