I posted before it departed, but how much time will it take pax to go through customs and take a cab to Jlem...
LY refused to let anyone off the plane.
Sadly, people will never learn.

Truly astounding that the lesson will never be learned.
Even if you book the flight no one is forcing you to board if it is delayed several hours.

IDK. Presumably they will help people speed things up. Who says they're going to Jlem, could be heading elsewhere. Doesn't make things better. And doesn't justify potentially taking a Jewish cab driver that will drop them off just before sunset and have no choice but to drive on Shabbos after dropping the passengers off.

Unfortunately, I have to side with ELAL on this one. Why should they almost definitely cause additional chilul Shabbos for other passengers just because some passengers did the irresponsible thing and booked themselves on a Thursday evening flight from NY to TLV.

I really think they should have every passenger boarding these flights sign an acknowledgement and waiver.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

What time did this flight board?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

No idea, however if the flight left 5 hours late wouldn't that mean that they boarded at least 2 hours late. (working under the assumption that max tarmac delay allowed is 3 hours)

LOL to ELAL worrying about causing additional chilul shabbos.

Insane!

No sir. The insane part is that people that presumably care about Shabbos booked and boarded this flight, and then thought they have a right to request to deplane which would cause extra delays for many people.

Seems like their speed is a lot faster then usual and they should land with plenty of time for shabbos. This time they might get lucky

Truly astounding that the lesson will never be learned.
I flew NYC-TLV on LY on the last 2 Wednesdays and I have to say that the proportion of haredim was significantly larger than usual.

So it's pretty fair to say that things are changing and people are starting to understand that flying on Thursday is not an option

BDE.

That's terrible.

And on top of their tragedy, to be stressed by the delayed flight. I just hope that in the past 19 years ELAL learned how to act in a sensitive way to bereaved family on their way to a loved one's funeral.

Ast @TimT, I've written about on DDF.
Flight was landing about an hour before sunset. Levaya was waiting for me, and if we had missed sunset shiva would be extended by another day. I had an exit row seat, but my wife had a seat a few rows away. I asked flight attendant to please allow us off ahead of everyone else, and got such an inconsiderate and rude response, that the non-frum person sitting next to me felt compelled to rebuke the flight attendant for lack of sensitivity.
