If LY has X class on the same date as your flight (and not showing on QF), you can "try" calling El Al (Israel), and see if they'd allow you to change with their "same day change" policy. If they send you to QF, explain that QF has limited access.
X or R?

Also, in general, some of my clients specifically prefer the 777 because it's much more spacious. Just not as private, though.
How is it more spacious when it's 7 abreast instead of 4? Even with the 777 being wider, that width should only translate to 1 seat, and you're still left with 2 additional per row. Are you talking pitch?

It's not really 4 abreast as it's staggered.
The space is tight, but it's private and lie flat
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

WhatsApp El Al
Sent them a Whatsapp in english. They required responses in Hebrew in order to continue or they advised to call the Israeli service center for english speaking rep. I responded in my best broken Hebrew and they booked seats and confirmed Mehadrin Meals.

When I called the US hotline the other day requesting to see if they could switch me to a different flight on the 789, the first thing the rep said when she heard I was calling about a QF booking was "Anything you want us to do related to a Qantas booking will cost you. $20 per seat assignment, $20 for meals." I cant wait for the in-flight attitude. I'm already hating them.

I mean $20 seems worth it to move to a 787 even if the fee is absurd in concept.

It's been discussed many many times, that the US call center has serious attitude issues. They implemented the $20 fee for touching QF bookings, and I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed for El Al to block award space from QF on the US routes because it was overloading their call center...
Interestingly, the Israeli department (isn't attitude officially an Israeli issue?) hasn't ever mentioned anything to anyone about a surcharge for seats/meals on QF bookings.
Can't stress enough, DON'T CALL THE US CALL CENTER UNLESS YOU WANT TO HANG UP IN A BAD MOOD.

I booked elal with the QF deal a few months ago and was able to choose seats. I called the regular us number.
In fact when checking now it seems that the outgoing flight was changed from 777 to the dreamliner & they have me in the same seat as my return flight which was (is) also the 787

Why not type your message into google translate and then paste the Hebrew version into What’s app to send to them. They accepted my messages in English but I pasted every Hebrew response into Google translate just to make sure that I understood correctly. Even if it’s not perfect, it should get the job done on What’s app, keep you off the US customer service line and hence your blood pressure down.  :P
