Elal had a flight from JFK today (842).

Cargo

For passenger flights. They fly plenty of cargo.

777 fleet has been converted to cargo.

Yes but are they flying?

Elal suspended cargo operations ~2 months ago.

That's what I had in mind. Went through the flight history of all the tail numbers. Except maintenance here and there, not much move

LY842 is operated by Polar Air Cargo, it's not an Elal aircraft or crew. Elal doesnt have anymore 747 even in a cargo config

Are you sure?
I had in mind that besides de 747 Cargo mentioned above, (and I have a feeling it's leased) the rest of the fleet had been grounded and all pilots put on unpaid leave
They're operating 2x weekly to ny. And numerous weekly flights to LGG. Not necessarily their planes, but they are definitely flying.

Surprisingly, found 7 Economy one-way LY EWR-TLV on Qantas site for Shavuos 2021 for the 37,800K miles and $9.60 tax ea. rate. Thought these seats were going to be needle in a haystack for quite some time to come. But thankfully, apparently not.
No choice but brief layover in Paris on return. Pretty good AF deal for 25K each, but about 120 in taxes. (Cheaper than a LHR layover).

LY plans weekly cargo flight to UAE

(Bloomberg) --El Al Israel Airlines to operate the first commercial cargo flight by an Israeli airline from Ben Gurion International Airport to Dubai, according to emailed from company.

The first flight, using a Boeing 747 jet, will fly to Belgium and from there to Dubai, carrying agricultural and high tech products.

It will later become a weekly flight, leaving Israel every Wednesday and returning to Israel on Fridays.

Why is a long detour via LGG?

Im guessing the tlv-lgg leg was already booked, and they are repositioning the plane in UAE instead of stopping by tlv

Aircraft airworthiness, or simply to keep the pilots current. I guess like them to answer them for similar training is going to be more expensive

We had 3 round-trip tickets EWR-TLV for late July that were cancelled.
El Al is simply unreachable.
We filed a DoT complaint and just received this (see below).
Has anyone else been in this situation and can tell us what to expect?
Thank you.
(I hope I'm posting in the right place.)

LY agrees to go ahead with the equity issuances by September 15th

By next week we should know who the new owners are.

If I had to bet id say that Rosenberg will buy a controlling stake during the issuance.
