Over-abuse of the voucher system, will likely be the cause of it's eventual death...
I unfortunately know quite a bit of abuse that people do with vouchers. I wasn't actually recommending what I wrote. I was sort of trying to prove that it's really $478 and they are selling it at a loss.

I'm flying el al from jfk to tlv as a matmid silver member. I believe i am allowed a 2nd checked bag, do i need proof of my silver status at the airport and if yes where do i get that (it seems there is no membership card)?

You just need to add your matmid number on your booking.
Alternatively if you know the number you can give it to them at check in
