Someone I know landed from Israel 2 weeks ago & has still not received her suitcase!
Does anyone here have a number or email of a higher-up to put them in touch with?
It's now almost 4 weeks!
El Al says to speak to JFK, JFK says to speak to El Al.
Any ideas?

sorry to break it to you ,but suitcases get lost sometimes. On all airlines. That's why you shouldn't pack anything that wont be covered by the airline. IIRC after 21 days you can get compensation from elal

Would love to get confirmation on that.
Also, they are impossible to reach!

Flight just got downgraded from a 787 to 777. Any way to get LY to assign row 2 (former F class), or do they block it off completely? It shows “open” on seat map, but unavailable to assign online.

Flight just got changed from a 777 to a 767 operated by EuroAtlantic Airways which has a nice looking 1-2-1 configuration in J. Anyone know if LY uses their planes on a dry lease (LY crew) or wet lease (partner crew)?

It happened to someone I know on a flight to London yesterday.

There were two LY crew members giving instructions and the rest was outsourced staff, FWIW

For those who booked an ELAL premium ticket via AMEX Travel, did you wait for the rebate to post before requesting a voucher?
Or is 48-72 hours enough to wait?

Best to wait till the ticket is reported (if issued Monday/Tuesday it's the 2nd Wednesday. If issued Wednesday-sunday is the first Wednesday)

No need to wait.
Since AMEX never sees the ticket again and it's all automatic since there's no refund?

Ticket reported to who?

I cancelled the same day and got the points rebate a month later.
YMMV.

I filed a DOT complaint about El Al switching my flight from EWR to JFK back in April what they had the landing slot issue. Meanwhile I managed to switch back to EWR after several HUCAs. In June they responded to my DOT complaint, offering a $500 voucher which I accepted, but haven’t gotten anything till this morning when they finally sent the (non-transferable) voucher.

You received a $500 voucher for the trouble of EWR vs JFK?

Not even an airport change. They switched me back, and offered the voucher after the trip was done already, and even acknowledged on the email that I was switched back, and the $500 is for the “inconvenience”.
It was for 5 passengers, so I guess it’s $100 PP.

Will I be able to change flight to a day later if flight time changed to an hour earlier? Next day flight is way more expensive.

LY reinstated the Extras and introduced Extra Baggage - i don't have the details but I'm assuming this would work with Lite tickets

Flying to Israel tomorrow - does one still have to fill out a health declaration to get into Israel?
