Just curious as why tickets are so expensive. I understand that Elal is the only airline flying there so they kind of have a monopoly.....
The average coach class ticket is approx $1600-$1800 which is almost double for winter time. (usually around $900-$1000)
Friends that just flew said the flights are bit more then 3/4 full, so they are not flying empty nor are they overfull...

People who are traveling now to Israel aren't price sensitive. From a business perspective, the pricing makes sense.

Every plane is packed. Can’t get a ticket only waitlisted. For past couple of weeks at least

Talking about last week. Not one seat available. They added flights. And thise were packed as well. If you need a ticket, don’t recommend waiting to the last minute

Have ELAL tickets for next week which I would love to cancel. They just changed my flight schedule from 11:50 PM to 12:20 AM following morning. Would that give me the opportunity to get a monetary refund as opposed to a voucher or am I wasting my time?

If you look at tickets later in the winter, I'm seeing most tickets between $800-900.
As Dan mentioned people fly now aren't vacationers.

Additionally, there were many Whats apps going around a few weeks ago from travel agents saying how not only did Elal not price gauge (and they were the only airline) people in there time of need when people were having a hard time getting back home to either Israel or Chutz laretz, they didn't even raise prices and they were doing set prices at some point for some flights. They were also adding flights.
So yes, now if you want to book a tickets to fly within the next few weeks the prices are more expensive and rightfully so, but lets give the credit where credit is due.

Now, onto my question I have  :)
Im looking to book Elal tickets for my family for Feb. for a family Simcha (and yes tickets are $850-$900 BH). I want to book through Chase UR with CSR points- what are the downsides to booking with them and not direct with Elal?

Thank you!

LY flights from NY are $535 OW in February.
On another note, I got a text from LY asking me to confirm if I intend on taking a flight booked for next week. I guess it’s a smart way to minimize last minute changes.

B"H! ;D

4 different friends went on different days last two weeks and all said that appeared to be some 10+ empty seats on the way there
and way back appeared to be a bit more empty seats.
Just checked matrix for 9 passengers and pretty much had availability every day next 3 weeks.
Regardless my point wasn't if they are full or not, was rather that the prices went up 60% and it is not because they are oversold.
I am not trying to imply price gouging as the whole airline industry is one big price gouge when they can (algorithms...etc).

All LY meals are "regular kosher." There is no supervision after they leave the kitchen and they aren't double wrapped for warming.

So practically speaking, no difference between the two from a kashrus perspective?

Who said that?

I’m asking because I’m in the air right now and didn’t think to reserve a “strictly kosher” meal…
