will chase let me switch an existing hyatt personal card to a Marriott business card?
I have already 5/24 and I rather have a business card then personal.

No, you can only do product changes between brands (e.g Marriott to Marriott) and never between personal & business.

I was under the impression that most people just got declined without a pull, when they exceeded 5/24.

how would they know you exceeded 5/24 without pulling

Great news, the rumors of Chase's demise are greatly exaggerated! I had been planning to apply for new cards for DW this week as part of an AOR when Dan's post went up and scared me off. She has definitely far exceeded the 5/24 threshold! I obviously wouldn't risk applying for any of Chase's own cards, but was hoping that co-branded might still be okay. I watched the replies there and here hoping for some clear data points one way or the other, but when none came in, I figured I had nothing to lose, since I was anyway planning to apply for other cards from other banks for her.

I started off by applying for Chase Hyatt, which she's never had. I got pending for 7-10 days, which I thought was a bad sign. But again, nothing to lose, so I called recon and went through the same procedure I've always had with their recon. After answering a bunch of questions, and then agreeing to move 5K from an existing Sapphire CL, the Hyatt was approved. Once I saw where it was headed, I clicked submit on a Fairmont app, which she's also never had. This time he made me close an existing card (Marriott) instead of just transferring CL, but in the end it was approved.

There was nothing about this that seemed in any way different than any other Chase app I've done in the past several years. I do bank with Chase and DW has an 800+ credit score, but if there really was a hard new 5/24 rule on co-brandeds, none of that would have mattered. I still don't know which other co-brandeds may be exempt, but hope this data point from a May 26 app is helpful.

Chase IHG
Chase Hyatt
Chase British Airways

I received an email offer today for the Marriott, 40k with $200 statement credit. Way, way over 5/24. I also have a United 50K snail mail offer good until the end of June.

All I can keep thinking about since this news broke is Chase's commercial and tag line. It shall forever be in my head as "Chase: So You Can Can't"

No sense in even trying then. If I needed the points, I might but not worth a credit pull.

According to DoC if you got the offer there isn't the 5/24
