Pond Advice

Anybody else own a pond ?  I'm looking for advice on filters and methods of keeping it algae free.

Do you also have a filter ? Pond guy is telling me that without a filter chemicals are useless.

No its not fenced in (yet). It is a concern I hope to fence it in, any suggestions on how to do it  without running the look ?
