So that pretty much self-excludes everybody IMO.

If you can't find either a relative or someone you know well to do this for you I would say don't do this to the kids

how do you ever trust a nanny? through proper interviewing her, taking references...

With a nanny your home pretty often to oversee what is going on and to gage how your child is doing I don't know anyone who will interview a nanny and then leave their kids with her for three weeks

But in their circles, they may find someone whose brother-in-law is a cousin to their shvigger. And their Rav learned with their eidim, and whose next door neighboor is best freinds from seminary. It is a small world.

Absolute ripoff, watching 3 kids in exchange for $3500/month home for 3 weeks, effectively worth $2,500.
A babysitter costs far more money than that, around $3500/4000.

Good luck finding someone interested in an extremely lousy deal.

well i didnt quite put it in the deal section did i ? 
fwiw, they have gotten quite a bit of offers, but none passed their screening. just putting it out here. you never know (not to mention that one of the kids will fall into my domain if they dont find a sitter  )

I didn't mean "deal" as in a hot deal, I meant "deal" as in an exchange between 2 people.

There is a big difference between looking to go on vacation and a necessary trip for business or medical reasons.
Which is it? And why would you feel pressured to accept their kid if you don't find someone?

Sounds like a bad deal on both ends, IMO. Sounds bad for a family to be advertising that they're looking for someone to effectively adopt their kids for two weeks. Almost as crazy as what half the working world does, by having their kids raised by their Spanish cleaning lady/babysitter.

Also an bad deal for anyone taking it. If I'd advertise "Looking for a live in maid, wages are the accommodations", I don't think I'd get too many takers.

On that note, kudos to them for screening their offers carefully. Many people (including the aforementioned whose children are raised by their cleaning ladies) don't get around to doing that.
