I spoke to amex assurance, they took watever contact info is on the letter I got and say they're gonna reach out again for documents

Do you have an official e-mail address that you may respond to? If they provided an e-mail address, I would guess that e-mail might be sufficient, as the trail could be adequately and completely documented. But unless you have an email address from them, or you sent an email to them and they confirmed receipt of your email by the proper department, I would suggest you stick to mail (preferably trackable).

I would send a letter disputing it if it were me.

I suspect they more just need to check off each box before issuing a check, without actually examining much...
(also possible that coincidentally in the 24 hours that I uploaded this document, they also went ahead and got that one document emailed from hertz...)

Demand Letter
A letter from the Rental Company stating their demands. It is a breakdown of the costs they are trying to recover. It may show the cost of repairs, Loss of Use and Administration fees.

You're right. I missed that before. Why not just respond to Hertz saying that you never did a chargeback/dispute for this (total amount) just for the actual amount you really disputed (presuming you have documentation to that effect).

Right. But IIRC you said that Hertz refunded the entire charge, and is now billing you for the entire charge, whereas you only disputed a portion. Let them see that you didn't dispute the entire charge.

I hear ya... it kind of gains me points in the 'fight' but ultimately it'll boil down to discussing the main issue. the rest will just delay it...

I have recently received the invoice referenced above, requesting $270.92 (USD). I would like to request more information. Please send an Itemized invoice.
Firstly, the Invoice bills $270 for a chargeback. there never was a chargeback of that amount. the dispute raised was for $180. the remaining portion ($90) should never have been refunded.
I believe that a portion of the Invoice amount refers to rental related charges. I imagine that portion does not exceed somewhere between $90-100 (USD). That portion was not disputed with the Credit Card, would have not had reason to be refunded. If that is all that is being invoiced, I'd be happy to provide that and satisfy this invoice.
If there are additional charges being requested, I'd like to see an itemized breakdown of charges.
If there are any Loss or Damage related questions or charges, I'd like to also refer you to my insurer:

so I made a dispute for something that I know multiple others are disputing from the same vendor. is there an amount of disputes that Amex will just accepted or deny the claims together or even if 100 ppl claim it will still be done case by case.
