Author Topic: What's your opinion? BA Flight Issue (Read 2134 times)

I bought tickets 2 in October with the AARP/BA deal. I unfortunately need to cancel them and the cancellation fee is $500 per ticket and they give me my 60K avios. I HUCA'd a million times to change the ticket to different date but with the cheap fare class it was booked in it is not worth it. Is it better just to no-show the flight and not get charge $1000?

I still don't understand why a no-show would be better than getting back the money for ticket minus the $500 fee.

I get $160 back and 60K BA miles and charged a $984 fee when I cancel the reservation. If I just don't show up I forgo the 60K points but not charged close to $1000.

HUCA'd 10 times. The flight was changed by 10 min and BA said it needs to change by a hour and a half or more in order to get the ticket changed or refunded. If this is not correct please advise as I would be more than happy to continue the fight!

I believe that this is not a hard rule. If the 10 min change creates a big hassle for you, they can refund it.

I would pull out all the stops, as I am sure you are doing. You have anxiety and control issues -- you're really embarrassed even to be telling them this information -- and any change of any sort that's out of your control makes you physically sick. You haven't been sleeping. You worry that you will "freak out" on the plane and ruin the flight for all your fellow passengers if you have to go on this flight that has been changed outside your locus of control. .... I suppose that this approach could fail or even backfire,
But if you're trying everything, why not this.

I would be happy to hear others' strategies, too.
