Assuming you'd downgrade to the green (which I believe is the cheapest business option), but you'll probably receive a refund of ~$66.67.

BGR $175/12 months=$14.58 per month x2 months=$29.17
Business Green $95/12 months=$7.92 per month x10 months=$79.17
Less the $175 you already paid leaves you with a refund of $66.67.

They might say since its past 4/9 that you get 3 months at the BGR rate.

Correction: It was a PRG which has an AF of $195. Anyway, retention offered me $100 statement credit for spending $500. Plus there's the $100 airline incidental. So I think that I'll spend the $500 at the supermarket for 2x and it will be like I got 1000 MR plus $5 for keeping the card open.

The PRG with the $100 airline incidental makes a big difference. If you value that at close to cash, even without the retention it wouldn't make sense to downgrade, unless you can downgrade to one of the Everyday cards (which I dont think you can since the PRG is a charge card and those are credit cards).

You mean a new card you opened and it's under 30 days, you can get a full refund.
 Usually the points post around the statement closing time, so don't see how you would be able to close the card and receive the points in under 30 days.. or your asking a different Q?

If what your saying is true you can effectively get back your whole total for the original AF.
