Total Wireless
« on: June 06, 2016, 10:50:50 AM »
I just got on the deal on the Galaxy S6 Edge+ from BestBuy so I'm looking to switch to Verizon (from R+...)
I found them online they offer very cheap rates compare to PagePlus, they have an offer of $25 a month unlimited talk/text, no data, but I can buy 3GB of LTE data at $10 (yes they do offer a 5GB plan at $35) the major plus of this is that the unused data rolls over to the next month and never expires as long as the line is active.
From what I read this company didn't offer 4G till last month, now I see I can get their SIM card for $9.99 at walmart.com and this will give me 4G coverage.
It seems similar to PagePlus in the matter that it renews each month with a plan package.
The overall sounds great, but my question is how is the company?
Is it reliable? Is the service good?

Trying it now, activated it yesterday with a SIM I got at WalMart worked fine, did a speed test, got the capped speed of 5MB down (VZW limits their MVNO's to that speed), later I chatted with them to port my other number to them, as soon as they submitted the port request my line lost service (the reason is because they had to link the ported number to the SIM card which would show as active and stop the port), now waiting for the port to go thru, while writing this post it's 12 hours since the request, possible that because I am porting from R+ and their offices are still closed I have to wait for them to open for it to go thru.
Will keep you posted

ETA: Port was successful

Service is good, costumer service is a totally different thing, be ready to waste a lot of time...
Basically these Mexican reps that read a script and can do and see a drop less than you...
The only way around it is asking for a supervisor, or I see they are BBB accredited so this may also be a path

I've been using PagePlus for years, and now switched to Total in the last few months to take advantage of the group plans and higher data quantities.  It's obviously the same company rebranded, the website is slightly better than PP in terms of user ability to work with actual account settings.  The disadvantage is the progaming needed to use tracfone based Verizon service.  I highly recomend either service for anyone willing to put up with poor costomer service to save quite a bit of money.

I'm using Total Wireless for over a year on a simple phone, unlimited talk&text for $26.10 (after tax and a 5% for auto-refill). I haven't had a whole lot to do with their customer support but when I did they were pretty good. (I called in today to change phone because my old phone broke down, there was no wait time at all and the rep was understanding, understandable and very helpful.

Should, iPhone 6 and above should work, you will need to buy a SIM card in Walmart in order to get 4G

For simple things like transferring lines they are ok, but once you need to do something that's not visible to you they are hell to deal with, they now restricted my credit cards from loading a data pack, I contacted them a zillion times and these dumb reps could basically tell me exactly what I would see on my end that the card was declined, the card was actually approved..., at the end when I tried to use a third card (2 different cards were "declined") it worked, but the old card stayed restricted, I finally got someone to transfer me to their nasty Loss Prevention departments and they said it's a system restriction and they have no power to take it off, the rep suggested that I wait a while for the restriction to go off automatically, bottom line their costumer service is a very restricted team, they have no power whatsoever, if you need to get a refund it's almost impossible (BBB worked for me to get a refund when a data pack got lost (literally..) in a different occasion), I didn't have data for about a week till I decided to take some time on my drive to work, to try to get this solved.
BBB is the only American based team that can actually do more than any department you can reach over the phone, when someone tells you they are the highest department you can reach in Tracfone (parent company) that's a lie, I got him to reach LP after he gave me this message...
It's a royal PITA when you NEED something... BBB takes about 2 weeks to get something done, so if you need something immediately you may be in a problem.

P.S. That last phone call took about 1.5 hours...

Looks like they are not Walmart exclusive anymore
I see their phones sell at BestBuy and their SIM card for $1 at Amazon

Anyone know how Total Wireless compares to Eco mobile? Looking to use in 08701?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Eco can be 1 of 3 carriers including Verizon. Total is Verizon service.

Assuming I would get Verizon service with Ecco is there any difference?

Helping friend with Total Wireless service. Canadian callers calling the phone (while it is in the U.S.) get an error message when calling. Rep. said that it's because there is no long distance plan.
A)That sounds really strange to me as the caller is the one is paying any extra rate for long distance. B)The plan has two lines, and only one of them has this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all total wireless is tracfone and their CS is a waste of time period! Try their chat team, they may be more helpful

According to this article they don't have international roaming

It seems like my question wasn't clear. The problem is not while the phone is in Canada. The problem is people from Canada calling the phone while it is home in the US.
