Alternate Side Parking- NYC

Well, this was a first for me: my car as parked on the wrong side this Monday. When I came back to my car I was expecting a ticket, but instead, I had two tickets neatly placed one on top of the other! The second ticket was given 12 minutes after the first one by another ticket giver. They apparently learned math in deferent schools, as the first ticket said I was parked 4 feet from the corner, while the second guy thought I was 29 feet away.

Anyone know if the second ticket is easily dismissed, or will they insist they can give me as many fines as they want on the same day?

Wow!  I'm so sorry to hear, I can sympathize you, having received so many of these tickets..

My assumption is that the 2nd ticket giver assumed the 1st ticket was for alt side, so he issued a 2nd ticket for the distance.

If that is the case I am pretty sure you can fight them both- bec you clearly could not have been both!  And therefore, both are wrong. Meaning, you have an eye witness (re: the other parking ticket) stating that you were not parked where the ticket says you were.

But they both say the violation is for alt side street cleaning.

That should not make a diff, you still have the eye witness that you were not parked where the ticket said you were, that should dismiss both tickets (imo)

Not sure if that would count (29ft & 4ft). Two different addresses would definitely work though.

Actually that's exactly what I got and they laughed at me on the phone when I asked if they can really do that.

Remember you have to have received two tickets for the same exact violation.

Thus, getting a ticket for alternate sides and being too close to a fire hydrant is 100% allowed.

However, if you get a ticket for alternate sides at 945 and then again at 10 for an alternate sides that lasts from 930-11, you can get one dismissed.
