Chase 5/24 Loophole: Pre-qualified Offers
« on: June 23, 2016, 03:12:02 AM »
I recently went into a Chase branch with the intention of applying for a pre-qualified / pre-approved card on the spot. Like most of us here, I'm way over 5/24.

Unfortunately, the banker told me he could only have me apply for the CSP, Freedom or Slate (*maybe checking if I was pre-qualified, but perhaps he didn't even really get that part) and that for other cards, such as the UMPE, I would just have to apply online.

Does this seem right? Can I actually not be pre-qualified in branch for non-Chase branded cards, in order to get past the 5/24 rule?

I got csp. You have to be a prime candidate for auto approval though. Limited cards with chase, low credit with chase, and not many recent apps.

Thanks. I hope that's the case. The banker at my branch insisted they could only see pre-quals for Chase cards. I specifically mentioned the UMPE and they said I had to apply online.

Not true, unless it changed recently.

FTFY. I went to a branch 4/5 to apply for a checking/savings account, was told I was pre-approved for the Freedom Unlimited. Application approved with over 20 cards in less than a year.
