i personally would. The risk that the flights will go up very much is far lower than the benefit of a chance of a sale. Although I booked already because I needed a specific date and time.

I don't know if I agree with this. I've already seen several flights increase substantially, and I don't know if Jetblue will see a reason to have a sale with the current demand. And even if they do, there is no guarantee that those flights would work for you.

There's almost no way that this challenge represents any significant spike in demand for them in the scheme of things.

Had WN flights booked for inter-California travel that I need in August. Cancelled that for free and booked on B6 instead to qualify. OK fine so I'm flying in / out LGB instead of LAX.
Smaller airport should be more pleasant anyways

People just want something cheap. So they put a sale on some other short flight. The fact that they might not put NYC-BOS on sale is irrelevant.

I ended up just booking because I found a deal unlikely to be beat.
