That's true, strictly speaking, but you still need to call to have the infant added:
Quote from: http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webcgi.exe?New,Kb=askBlue,case=obj(1939)
Lap Children Traveling Within the U.S.
Customers traveling with lap children are required to call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583) to provide JetBlue with the name and birthdate of the lap child.
Quote
Infant ticketing
Infant tickets are required for all international flights. For U.S. domestic flights, infants do not require tickets unless they are occupying their own seat. Lap children under the age of 2 years old on U.S. domestic flights do not need to be ticketed. JetBlue files $0 infant fares in the GDS and expects all agencies to ticket their own international infants.

PNRs with infants traveling as a lap child or in their own seat need to show the following:
  • Infants name the name field
  • Infant SSRs are associated to an adult
  • Secure Flight Documentation needs to be added for the infant in the form of the INFT SSR
Basically, they're not ticketed (as I assume they would be for international), but there needs to be a record of them being on the plane.

I just booked it with the lap child in the first place, but you should probably just call at this point. And as far as your comment about buying a ticket - I personally see no reason to spend an extra $100+ for my 4 month old on a sub-2 hour flight. I booked aisle and window seats toward the back, hopefully it'll be empty and they'll let me bring the car seat on anyway.

There's the same reason to spend $100+ for a 4 month old on a sub 2 hour flight as there is to go to BOS for 35 minutes.

That's backwards. The latter is being done to 'save' money (more accurately make money), while the former is purely for comfort when compared to just keeping the child on your lap.

Need something either  this week or on a weekend. Can't find anything less than $200
Going with wife and two kids, wondering what the $ amount I should apply to the hassle

Unless you register the infant in the promotion and get 75k from each ticket.   Whatever.

Good point, and maybe that's what he meant - though I didn't read it that way. Personally, I only had enough for 2 - otherwise we'd have been going with all 3 kids instead of just the baby.

Alright, alright - keep rubbing it in guys. ;) Not everyone is swimming in starpoints. I surprised myself being able to scrape together enough for 2.

Or you can do the RT to DC, which is at night. Might make it more possible to expand your range of available dates.

Currently the cheapest option there is a Wednesday evening:

Do infants need a boarding pass to get past security?

Yes, either a boarding pass or a +1 on an adult boarding pass.

JB cancelled my flight. Any chance I can get them to credit it as a flight for the promo without rebooking?

Unlikely. You don't get the regular points unless you fly, so I doubt you'd get promo points.
