so whats the advantage to 2/3bm if they can see old pulls

Who said anything about pulls?

Also, when I did recon, they said I have 6 or so pulls, if they pull from transunion, will they see all the card accounts I have recently opened?

Oh, sorry im a little new at this.
So what you are saying is that they can always see new accounts open but they won't necessarily be able to see the pulls

In a word, basically.

Even if you freeze two reports and force the FI to pull from the third, if you apply for a card from the same FI as your new accounts, they'll almost surely be able to see that you have those accounts, even if they can't see the pulls that predicated those accounts.

It's a different question if other FI's would be able to see those new accounts, and the answer depends on the timing of when the new accounts were opened, and when the subsequent pulls took place.

It sounds a bit complicated. I feel like I would be just better off negotiating with Chase to let me open a new card by closing an old one

It's not that complicated, and you can do exactly that also. These two steps are not mutually exclusive.

In your experience, does it make so much of a difference?
I have 3 pulls from barclays/amex/chase in october, only approved for barclays
1 approval from chase in early feb.
1 2bm from amex in late feb, not yet approved as i had to send in my 4506 form

As long as you're willing to (ch"v potentially) deal with the repurcussions of pushing the limits...

(I don't mean you personally, I mean anyone who stacks the decks as high as they can)

You think its pushing the limits to freeze reports + close one card to push through another?

Personally, I like stacking the deck as much as I can without pushing the limits - I think this would be an example.

What's ch"v? chas vi'shalom?

Yes.

I think I missunderstood what you meant by stacking the deck as much as you could.

Ah, perhaps I was less than clear. As you suggested, there very likely comes a point where the risk of stacking the deck outweighs the possible reward. In that case, if ones does it, he or she best be able to deal with any repercussions... or don't stack the deck :)

The pull will be based on the address you give them (they don't know what address(es) is (or are) associated with your SSN until they pull, duh!

Having said that, giving them a new address will delay your application, as they'll have to verify it's you (and not some scammer), e.g. by having you verify the previous address(es) and/or other info on your CR.

I did a 2BM in CA recently for SW and UA cards with Chase and the United got denied for the following reason:

"Applied for Southwest and accepted recently"

Does that mean the 2BM didn't work and I got 2 pulls?
