Should clarify. I did a 3BM, all 3 declined.  When letters came in, I called re. SP WMC, and had them close the Visa.  The letter that came in the mail informing me of the closure stated that they pulled from TU.

Now does that mean they did another pull, in addition to the one when I applied?

A pull upon closure? I don't think so (never heard of it). I don't know what letter you're talking about, but sounds like the original pull.

(The recon's told me I have something like 8/9 pulls on my CR :-[)

If most of them are 6+ months ago you're doing very well. I have ~15 on each bureau and others here have (many?) more.

its 1 dollar

Yup, just remember to cancel within 30 days, or it'll be $$$$ :D

Our working theory here on DDF is that two identical pulls on the same day from the same bureau would get consolidated into one.

I'm on board with said theory, but it's possible that on any given 2/3BM that the inquiries could be coded differently...

$$$$

It's a buck...

A pull upon closure? I don't think so (never heard of it). I don't know what letter you're talking about, but sounds like the original pull.
The original letters of decline for the other 2 (of the 3BM) both had EX as the CB that was pulled.  The letter for this particular card decline didn't have any pull, it just said that I already have a SP card...  So why would I all of a sudden have a TU?
The original pull was def. EX!  And the Recon didn't just agree "shift over your CL" and g'bye.. s/he still did the whole "review" of my credit bla bla...

If most of them are 6+ months ago you're doing very well. I have ~15 on each bureau and others here have (many?) more.
Unfortunately a lot of them seem to be recent... BTW is there any cost involved at all for credit freezing in NY?  Thanks!

+1 on the VCN. It's almost worth it to pay my AF on the Citi card I have for that feature alone.

VCN ;)

Not a Citi one, I'm 1000% sure it didn't work for this specific use (can't remember if it was IME or someone elses :-[)

15 on EQ and TU? What have you been applying for being that you're in NY?

Average, I have 10+ on TU because I had a bungled BofA 3bm and some other stuff I applied for.  I have random inquiries from all kinds of things (like bank accounts and Amex FX etc etc)

The original letters of decline for the other 2 (of the 3BM) both had EX as the CB that was pulled.  The letter for this particular card decline didn't have any pull, it just said that I already have a SP card...  So why would I all of a sudden have a TU?

Maybe they pulled for moving the CL, annoying.

Unfortunately a lot of them seem to be recent... BTW is there any cost involved at all for credit freezing in NY?  Thanks!

Yes, $5 to freeze (ater first one), $5 for temporary or permanent lift. Fees waived for verified victims of identity theft.

I still have one of the AA cards (the personal Amex). Should I do a 2BM for both the personal Amex and Visa, or will duplicate cards not work with AA?

My wife currently has 5 active aa cards.

You should use EQ, EX and TU for the CB's.
