You can bring a small carry on (up to 11 pounds) free. And it's $48 per checked bag per way. So to Iceland that would still be under $300 RT. Pretty good deal...

A. 11 pounds? My Rashis and Rabbeinu Tams weight 11 pounds.
B. What dates are $198 RT?
C. I was responding to the $300 NYC-Paris.  A normal carry-on adds $100 RT. A stingy 44 checked bag adds $136 RT. Seating together costs extra.
May as well have bought a ticket on a real airline for less than that.

Looks like $99 prices are in middle of week. I saw flights in last week of january (yeshiva week) from wed-wed that were $198. However, didn't realize how much the fees would be. From what I can tell on the iceland master thread there is little (no?) kosher food there, so that would all have to be brought with you which would increase the baggage fees, at least on the way there.

For my Iceland trip WOW was $200 less than the other options - after paying extra for carry-ons, checked bags, and extra legroom seats. Even taking into account NY-BOS flights it was still slightly cheaper.

So long as you make sure to look at the "real" cost, it could sometimes be a very viable option.

I think I can opine on whether its worth $500 extra (whether in cash or points with that value) in order to be more comfortable on a plane for X hours.

I think there is also a difference between people who are traveling for fun and people who have to travel for business.
Before DDF I spent hundreds of hours a year in economy seats and it took a toll. DDF has increased my quality of life.
