What's your favorite trip management method/app and why?
« on: June 30, 2016, 06:33:59 PM »
I personally use OneNote because it syncs everywhere and works offline.

For me, the following information is usually kept on separate pages:
PDF images of flight reservations and boarding passes
Car rental info and PDF printout of Google map with directions, so just in case my phone battery dies inflight I'll still have it on my iPad and computer
Calendars of local shuls
Restaurant menus
Things to do, with maps

What do you do?

I like to use maps.me, you can find it both on android and ios I think.
it's a navigating map which works offline, you just download the map. the GPS works great with that app, the best i've used so far. but i am not sure if it's my phone or the app.

ps, i am using an iphone 6

Have you ever Heard of
Tripit
World Mate
Tripcase

those are for any record confirmations and follow up tracking
Flights
Hotels
Car Rentals
etc.

for actual trip schedule
I use Google Maps (My Maps)
which allows you to map out your trip

from that point I'll just use simple calendar for the 5 things i have planned that day

for easy access on my phone

I use TripIt, but it's a bit clunky. OneNote is simple and straightforward.

Does OneNote have any auto-import options like TripIt or is it all manual?

It's manual, but I don't like TripIt importing every single trip email.

That does get annoying. Especially since IME it doesn't pick up cancellations and remove them.

Still easier and more convenient then manually inputting all the data.

Also TripIt (and other mangement apps) keeps track of schedule changes for you and sends alerts. OneNote is just a glorified notepad.

That's true, but Google pushes delay alerts to my phone.

Once I use trip it for import its in my calendar
and i use the other 2 apps for the free alerts world mate and trip case
i never rely on one when it comes to travel

and besides it doesn't take any effort to forward a email to 3 email address's

my day to day is Calander
but if i need a confirmation or detail info i go to trip it
if i want up to the minute gate info world mate

FlightView

I like that on the day of the trip, they will show where the plane is coming from on the app.

But how does it help you manage your trip?

FlightView

Even airports use this travel technology. You know those big shiny screens that loom over the crowds, telling people where their flight is leaving from, when it will arrive and where it is now? That’s FlightView technology. The business travel app from FlightView provides color coded maps, flight delay notifications, real-time flight status, gate and baggage claim information and a handy calendar integration feature for your smartphone. This travel app is helpful even when you are not the one on the road.

And they track/locate Southwest flights along with everyone elses.

Sounds like it's worth checking out.

I use the Kayak app. I email all my flight, hotel, tour confirmations and somehow it adds it all automatically?  It also lets you add things manually.
