We went for a family wedding to GIG, used pre Deval for a party of 3 AA JFK GIG 50K J each way with an uneventful AA swapping Aircraft New J Flat to mega super old J, flew from from GIG > MAO for $100 with GOL that I found on cheapoair, everyone else was asking for in the tune of $290ish, for MAO MIA JFK used AA post Deval 17.5K +$110.

For Shabos we stayed at the outdated JW Marriott copacabana, here is the view from the roof top where there is also a pool, a bar and some other good stuff, Dan already posted Images of this JW Property on his last Brazil trip report which I also agree with Dan it was nothing special, outdated and not worth the 40K Marriott points per night but it was all about location

Booked a tourist bus from Rio to Ilha Grande, the bus picked me up from the place where we were staying in Rio for only $30 one way, this included the bus fare plus a boat ride from Dos Rios to Ilha Grande, there are no cars in Ilha Grande just beautiful tropical hills and tropical beaches, it is a 3 hour drive from Rio, I stayed at a room in a hostel with a beach front porch.

Its some little stream/river running down from the tropical rain forest into the beach.

Left ilha Grande with the bus to Rio, slept over night in Rio at a cheap hotel, took Uber from Copacabana to GIG for USD$12.95, my Uber ride took 5 minutes to get to my hotel, but lots of traffic to GIG, flying GIG MAO GOL 737 for $100USD found on cheapoair

So for Friday night I went the regular shul as per advise from a friend in Rio, but the next day when I went to the chabad house the Shalich informed me that, that is a reform shul, I had no clue and it did not look like reform, there was a mechitza, for shabos day the Shalich was MORE then nice to me, the shabos table discussion was the Parsha, Dansdeals and Dan's Yeshiva days and how it was all started (Which we wont get into now) what ever happens in Yeshiva stays in Yeshiva. I also met a Jew at the chabad house his grandparents came from Morocco to Manaus.
