Is replacing the capacitor really so easy that a paraplegic monkey could do it, as one review stated?

Carrier 8000ts
That is furnace, no? Have model # of AC unit outside?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Yes but make sure power is disconnected. You have a disconnect outside to make it easy to disconnect the power. You also need to make sure it is the cap.

Any way to make sure?

Cap meter which you won't have. A spare is the easiest way. You can look at the cap and see if it deformed or leaking if it is oil filled cap.

Pop the cover off and take a picture to post tomorrow. Make sure to pull the disconnect first. I would also make sure the AC does try to turn on now.

Takes me to Amazon, but says we couldn't find that page. What's the cap called. I can search Amazon
All you need on amazon is the ASIN.
 Which would be "B01FHVCMYI"
Copy and paste that into the amazon search bar.

You would think the battery would only be an issue when you lose power. What model Honeywell?

Can't reset with a blank screen. Only think I can think of is double checking the wires to make sure they have power.

I figured it out with some help from a friend who is a plumber but does some HVAC too. Seems a gardener knocked a wire outside which blew the internal fuse. Working now. Thanks for your help.

The nature of this thread is mostly crowless since a lot of diagnosis is trial and error.
