I have a window unit air conditioner which Although it gets the room quiet cold, the room stays very humid. Anyone experience this ever?

Ok, here goes. It was in the middle of a regular cycle, and as it was about to drain the whole machine stopped. We unplugged it, plugged it back in and played around with the buttons to no avail. At one point I noticed error number e02 f06. I read up on it and watched a youtube video what the problem may be. Today I followed the instructions from the video and cleaned out the draining tank (or whatever that thing on the bottom is called), which was VERY dirty.

After reassembling the machine I can press start for a cycle to begin, it locks the door but stops right there. No error code visible.
TIA

you mean humid as in sticky?  Best bet would be to get a De humidifier, does a great job and keeps the ac working great.

There must be something wrong with the ac. It shouldn't be that way with a properly working machine. So instead of buying a dehumidifier and have that run in tandem with the ac, just replace the ac.

Next he'll complain that it's too dry the room so he'll have to add a vaporizer above all that...  :P

Yes that's true , an ac is supposed to suction all of the humidity through the filter which is on the front and cause the water to drain out from the back that is why the filter gets full of dust since it's working properly, to suction up all the dirty old wet air , so usually when it doesn't do that job anymore, mean something is wrong with the  AC,  you could/or should get it checked  out or stick with a de humidifier.

Or check to see and make sure it's not full of dust

If the filter is not clean the compressor could freeze up and cause the whole machine to malfunction. Can even lead to permanent damage.

Window a/c gets frozen, I let it run without the front cover and found the spot where it starts, does that mean water is getting stuck in that spot ? Or is it something else altogether ? What can I do about it ?

We had that problem too, many years ago. Repairman said we had it set too high. We lowered the temp and it works fine.

Sounds like the condensation may not be drawing properly and is getting blown back in to the house. Make sure it's tilted slightly down toward the back so that the built up condensation will run down and drain. Also make sure there isn't any dust and/or garbage that is blocking the flow of water leaving. There should be a steady drip of water coming off the machine.

Worked perfectly till recently, It's a new thing that it freezes, there is probably a way to make sure it doesn't once I identified the source
