The problem is an ohm test is not accurate. If your multi-meter shows an open you know the igniter is bad. A correct ohm reading does not mean it is good. Once an igniter heats up the ohm reading will change. The proper way to check it is with an amp test. You need to now the amperage draw for your gas valve to open. I believe you would have no problem with the test except you probably don't have an amp clamp. You can do it with a multi-meter but I am not comfortable advising that.
ETA: If it is a double oven or even a small broiler on the bottom you can most likely swap the igniters and test them that way.

To do an Amp test, assuming I need 120 volts and hook up those clamps? 12V from a car battery or the like won't work, would it?

Not sure what you are asking. An amp clamp is self contained.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

One guys says 2.8 2.9 or 3 while the next guy says a reading from 3.2-3.6.

It seems and needs to reach at least 2.8 to open up the gas valve.

Sorry about that I thought you meant a load test!
  Yes an amp clamp.
Should have that on my Klein's multi meter!  Thanks will do the test.

Here's another method.

Thanks @CountValentine Couldn't seem to find any videos like these and now found! Amazing! Always irked me on how to check a weak ignitor.

Here was another way if you don't own an amp clamp.. and just two probes.

If you go that route you will most likely have to cut a wire to insert in the circuit.

What they wrote is wrong or not clear at all.

Now I'm understanding your previous message about I don't suggest that way.
Never really used a clamp on the multi meter, to tell you the truth.
So wasn't familiar with the terms amp with the clamp!

This does get confusing. They have amp clamps, amp clamps with a multi-meter and plain multi-meters.
You can use a regular multi-meter to test the amps the ignitor will draw. That is the option I would not advise since you have to cut a wire. I can walk someone through it if they feel comfortable.

Just be careful not to touch the live electric and you'll be fine.
All you're doing is putting a multimeter in between one of the wires that's going into the outlet and touching one end on the igniter.
Pretty straightforward, but I'll try with the amp clamp and see what happens.

I'll go on a stone floor, or have someone hold the wire, and I'll attach with a wire nut one end of the ignitor to the 120v and then use a clamp to clamp the probe to the other end of the ignitor or manually hold both ends, pretty straightforward.
 Why you against it?

Wanted to try with a multi meter but don't have prongs handy to attach some Romex to! 😌
So will have to do it the safe way by using this clamp..

Ok you took it out. Just connect as normal and use the clamp, no probes needed. If you want to know how to do with the probes I can explain. Simple series circuit.

I don't understand what they are saying. Let me find a simple series circuit picture.

Does this make sense.
Battery is AC
Lamp is Ignitor
Ammeter is multi meter

https://sub.allaboutcircuits.com/images/05056.png

ETA: Multi meter is set to AC amps. Make sure it goes to at least 10 amps. After I reread the link you posted I guess it does make sense.

Didn't get a minute to do it,btw that was replaced with a new igniter so I would need to do a quick swap out and put in this old one. Requires me to take apart the inside a bit, didn't have the strength to do that last night, will try soon. And plan on buying a prong to attach to my romex wire and see if I can use the probes to test as well.
Will keep you updated with my results.

Can you just put the probe into one side of the connector? The other probe you can wrap the romex around.
Now if plan on doing this again get an alligator clip to put on the romex.
ETA: Any old appliance plug/cord is great for this.

Just curios which amp setting would you use?

  The 600A~ shows 3.18

While the 4A~
                 40A~. Shows a reading of 2.7-2.8
