Yes. Running a 220 AC on a 110 is insane. Can the AC be converted to 110?
How would I convert a 220 AC to a 110 AC?

You rewire it if it is capable to be converted. Do a google search for the unit.
I did it but it was many years ago.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Why is it insane? In the US we create 220V by combining two 110V supplies. A simple instructable is all you need to do the step up.

No. My friend did it while living in an apartment.

He plugged a 220 unit into 110 outlet?

Not exactly. He took the 110 outlet out of the wall and attached 2x 110V wires to a 220V outlet like this one. Maybe there was something else added behind the wall as part of the installation but I don't know. In any case, he did the work himself and they never had a problem with it.

So he jury rigged a 220 outlet. He ran 220 on a 220 line not a 110 line. 220 ac will never work on a 110 line.

Not sure who was suggesting that a 220 ac could run on a 110 line. Certainly dont think i did - but whoever it was, your comment seemed to suggest converting the ac into 110 which would be just as bad an idea.

Some appliances can be wired for 110 or 220. They are made that way. That is why I said to check. Many air compressors and some shop equipment can be rewired to run on either 110 or 220. You are just using different windings or combining windings.

Went to the basement utility room to get some bacon out of the freezer. Needed my breakfast BLT. Noticed part of the floor was wet. The drain spigot on the water heater was leaking. Took forever to drain 75 gallons. Took the spigot apart and found the rubber gasket cracked. Went over to my neighbors and he had one. Time to fix not counting drain time was less than ten minutes. Out of pocket expense, zero!  :)

Electric shavers, computer plugs, etc. Devices that convert AC to DC can often accept either 110 or 220 current. But not air conditioners.

What make and model?

As well if it's a GE oven, make sure you put it into shabbos mode, you got to click the clock button multiple times to make sure your in the shabbos setting.

No.
If you don't set it properly even though it shows that symbol it doesn't mean it will work.
