Best Cheap mp3 Player
« on: October 13, 2015, 01:01:08 PM »
Does anyone have recommendations for a simple mp3 player (essentially for kids)?
Basics of what I'm looking for:
Only needs to have music capability, video a plus but not necessary
At least 16GB storage (internal or via expansion, expansion slot a big plus)
Bluetooth a plus (obviously more expensive, so not a must)
Decent user interface
Easily downloadable from PC
$50 or less

Alternatively, I would consider a used or refurbished phone that has a good mp3 player and storage - the phone feature doesn't need to work!

I have had the Sansa Clip and was very dissatisfied. Besides for its very limited interface, it kept freezing. Finally it just died a few months after purchase and they sent me a (refurbished) replacement.  That also died within a month. They REFUSED to send a replacement as they claimed only the original was under warranty, but not the replacement!
I see lots of cheap brands on Amazon such as Lonve and Tomameri, but it is so hard to tell if they really are any good. Amazon reviews have become such a difficult place to determine fact from fiction, subjective reviews to objective reviews etc.

Not bad.
I'm guessing the LG is a lot better than the ZTE.

Sandisk used to make a good one (clip zip), then they made thier new one (sport) which sucks.
Sony makes and plain mp3 player too.
And if you are willing to spend a mint the iPod nano doesn't have internet access.
I'm not who you think I am.

Thanks. I'm looking at the Sandisk, but I think he wants something that can create playlists. Cheapest I found with playlist option was a Sony "walkman" for $73, and that's more than I wanted to spend.

The clip zip I'm pretty sure you where able to create playlists but they discontinued that and people are charging close to $100 for it now, I'll check the clip sport right now. The issue with the clip sport is that the microsd doesnt sync with your music, you gave to manually got thru folders to play your music on it.
I'm not who you think I am.

The Zip is discontinued and is extremely expensive. You could use RockBox on the Clip+ as well.
