It was so incredible to experience the rain miraculously stopping finally finally as I was walking to shul erev yom tov. I was in disbelief for a while. And then it starting up again in the early morning- but guess what? It stopped-again!-when we started up our day meal. Thank you Hashem!
The rav spoke before maariv the first night and said how on Yom Kippur we tremble and say
ליודע מחשבות ביום דין, לכובש כעסו בדין.
Even though we have all sorts of unworthy thoughts that Hashem knows about, Hashem holds back His anger during din.
And yet, comes sukkos(simchas torah) we suddenly say יודע מחשבות הושיעה נא!
We’re calling upon our מחשבות as a זכות for us! Why?
Bc what was all of klal yisroel thinking during erev yom tov?
Will it stop raining? How long do we have to wait? A little bit or 1-2 hrs? What do we do? We where all silently davening for one thing- to do the mitzva in the sukka-
our thoughts throughout yom tov have become pure and therefore a source of advocacy for us.
Let it continue this way.
