Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

What's the point of posting before it's released and/or the full details are known?

Yup, surprising they couldn't work something out.
Even assuming they could work something out, that would negate anyone bothering to get the United Club card. It's similar to Citi ditching Admiral access for the Prestige.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Perhaps, but Club card offers different bennies. 1.5x, close-in fee waiver, 2 checked bags, elite upgrades, etc.
Could also limit Sapphire access to when flying UA only, etc.

Of course (just like the executive) but unless you're a frequent flyer but are somehow still unable to attain *G, it's hard to justify $450 a year for that.

Meh.
Even just guests vs no guests could be enough of a diffentiator.

Will they club card still offer close-in waived fees after new united policy change ?

Clicks.

Some people are currently under 5/24 and are holding off applying for other cards because of this new card. I respect Dan's decision not to post, but saying that we're posting purely for clicks isn't accurate either.

Im with you. I'm saying at least that.
Dan has said before he posts about what he cares about (see sports posts). I would think a post about this, even specutalive would of interest to him and his readers

It helps for credit issues, not for 5/24.

I've also gotten approved for cards that are subject to 5/24, but it's not 100%.

Ok, let me clarify. It didn't help me, and my heimishe Chase banker told me that it never helps for 5/24. IDK if he's right, but that has been his experience. I'll give it another shot, and hopefully I'm wrong...

There are no clear conclusions, just various data points, about what enables some people to squeeze by 5/24 once in a while. It seems to be (just based on my experience and talking to others) like a 1/100 shot. Totally anecdotal. Take it for what it's worth.
