Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

Great data points.
@Dan what was main argument for approval? And from your brief post it sounds like you pushed CPC pretty hard. Is that true?

Yep - would love to know this - especially for those egregiously over 5/24!

Applied this morning and got a pending application. Called the recon line and had to explain the number of cards I opened recently (under 5/24) and move around some of my credit, it went to verification and they recommended it for approval, is there any real chance that it may still be declined now?

Does anyone know if the TSA precheck/Global entry credit can be used for a Nexus application?
Do we have any update on if one can bring guests into the lounges with this card?

I bet you it doesn't hurt....

I would be curious how much have an investment account with CPC/JPM would help -- even if it's dormant "for now..."

I'll keep you updated. Is it worth calling the recon line again now or just wait it out?

What makes you think I don't have 250k+???  ;)
But yeah, you're right. Have a relative that is CPC. Maintain a joint account with just $70.

Any CPC relationship banker can give you it, if they really value your relationship. (IIrc when I got it, the screen prompted the banker to check for at least $100k, but they overrode that).

Besides that, anyone with CPC can give their immediate family CPC by becoming a joint account holder with them on 1 account (the free CPC deposit box is a easy choice), then all their accounts become CPC.

just a thought.. everyone who is applying at 5/24 or near 5/24 (6/24, 7/24) and getting denied, then not to waste the pull you are getting 1-2 other cards like hyatt/ihg/etc.

So say in 6 months or a year when you might be below 5/24 and there is a good bonus going on for CSR or other chase card wont the extra hyatt/ihg cards that you got to save the pull prevent you from being under 5/24 at that point of time.

im pretty sure most people doing that are far over 5/24 and the Hyatt card would not have made a difference

Presumably the answer is no. On all other cards that offer a GE credit you can't use the credit for NEXUS.

DOC is not good enough for you?

What I meant to ask is whether this is absolute. So this is very helpful:
Sometimes. Not always.
Thanks.
