Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

DansDeals.com » Blog Archive » Chase Sapphire Reserve Additional User Benefits And Lounge Guesting Policy Are Awesome!

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

There are *some* people getting approved via phone recon that are not CPCs. Since that's the only option in your case, you might as well try or find someone who's good at recon to call for you. :)

Many people here say the number of inquiries on your credit report is over-rated. Other people don't like an inquiry without a card. Different strategies have been utilized. It just personal preference.

1. Apply for CC, if denied apply for different CC from same issuer to get the pulls combined and possibly get at least one CC. (If done on the same day and both are personal cards)
2 Apply for CC, if approved, apply for another CC from same issuer to get the pulls combined and possibly get two new CCs. (If done on the same day and both are personal cards).
3. Apply for CC, stop there.

I thought you had already applied and it went to recon, but based on your last sentence it sounds like you haven't applied yet.
Thanks! that was very helpful.

SO already applied and denied after 2 recon calls, both citing 5/24. Since I am 11/24 just trying to understand what my strategy should be and if it's possible to get SO approved...

If you didn't have 5 new accounts showing on your report, then the system didn't recognize you as 5/24. Additionally, if you 3BMed when you were under 5/24, the system didn't recognize any of the applications as 5/24 at time of application. Kapisch?

I applied for a whole bunch of cards 2 weeks ago.
Then I applied for the csr this past Friday

Are there systems really 2 weeks behind ?

They were all business cards.

Doubtful. The Chase banker I spoke with yesterday said 2 weeks is the estimated time to get the card and that they simply aren't expediting right now.

They were all business cards.

that's what I thought about 5/24
but someone mentioned before that even if you have 5 business cards opened in the past 2 years. and then apply for a personal you will be declined

I thought I'd share my experience getting approved in case it helps one of you get approved.

I am 5/24 (with my oldest card approved in September 2014, so right on the cusp) and I'm not CPC, so I was denied.  I called recon a couple times, but no one was able to bypass the 5/24.  The third rep agreed that I should be approved (for the reasons listed below), but said it was out of his control.  I asked to speak with a supervisor, who ultimately approved my card for the following reasons:

1. (main reason) One of my 5 cards opened in the last 24 months was as store card (Neiman Marcus), so I said it shouldn't count towards the 5 cards max that people generally open for account bonuses - and the supervisor agreed.

2. Last month I opened a business checking account and deposited a nice amount of money.  I explained that I am entrusting my business's money with chase because I am committed to my relationship with them - and I hope they value their relationship with me and my business.

3. I don't have a history of closing (most) of the cards that I open. I generally downgrade.

I did have to shuffle some credit around, but I got approved.  If any of the above reasons are relevant to you, give it a shot...

I already posted about this, and I am not sure why I don't see more talk about this.

There is 2 departments in the lending services aka recon line. There is the front desk rep. that goes by the book, and they usually go by the book, then there is a senior rep. aka the supervisor. You need to ask for a senior rep. if you need anything.

It is very possible that there is a 2 week lag, or more when it comes to recognizing new accounts.

For example, many times a new card will not show up on your credit report for over 2 weeks etc.

Or you may be one of those who got lucky, B"H.

Applied for hyatt now, got 10 within 30 days message, is there any point in calling recon or my chances are the same if I wait it out?
