Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

DansDeals.com » Blog Archive » Chase Sapphire Reserve Additional User Benefits And Lounge Guesting Policy Are Awesome!

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

Is it possible to upgrade from the Preferred to the Reserve within the first year or it's hard coded?

In the past, I used to convert my free card to a CSR, get the credit, and convert back. However, Chase just started a new policy that you cant change product types again less than I year after opening/ converting. Does anyone know a workaround? If I convert, get the credit and then reject the terms to reverse the conversion, will the travel credit be removed? Thanks

Are you talking about a downgrade then upgrade? Maybe they don’t like you? HUCA?

Yes, actually upgrade, then downgrade. To be more accurate, they call it a product change. I was able to switch the Freedom to the Reserve but now, they're not letting a switch back.

Also, in the past, I downgraded my ink preferred to a classic after the points cleared, but now they're saying it cant be done untill the anniversary.

You’re right that now it can’t be done until the 1 year anniversary of the account. About the other issue, I did this exact sequence last week with no issues. Have you tried HUCAing?

I booked a car rental through Chase UR using Chase reserve points. Is insurance and everything covered the same as if I paid with the reserve itself?

from personal experience yes you get collision primary coverage when you use the points to book

Will this be the year of retention offers for CSR in light of new Prestige and Amex Gold?

I plan to forge full steam ahead with the Prestige/Premier/possibly also Barclays Arrival Premiercombo and leave the CSR behind (residing outside U.S. so obviously different considerations in play...)
