Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

DansDeals.com » Blog Archive » Chase Sapphire Reserve Additional User Benefits And Lounge Guesting Policy Are Awesome!

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

With a reserve, depending on the combination of other Chase cards you have, you can be earning anywhere from 2.25 points/dollar to 7.5 points/dollar easily. With Amex platinum you can't.

Additionally, while with your example you end up spending less points with Amex for that same ticket, you still need to have the 36k points available to lay out for the ticket before getting the 35% refunded. On a higher priced item this can be quite significant.
I’m not talking about earning, i earn 5 for gift cards in staples etc. I’m only referring to actual redemption, am i right that amex point redemption of 35% is more than the 50% of chase.?

Amex doesn't give as many point as Chase does for purchases
Amex platinum gives me 1.5 per dollar spent. My question is solely on the redemption, isn’t based on mu calculations above, Amex giving me a better redemption for my points? I have over a million of both amex and mr points, the question has nothing to do with acquiring points.
Looking forward for your response. Thank you.

IMO if you are looking solely at that portion you are correct that it can be higher (roughly 1.54 as opposed to 1.5 with chase). Bear in mind though that this is only for the platinum business card, only on premium cabin, or only on regular cabin on the airline of your choice.

I still think that this is skewed based on my previous comment that you need to look at the earning as well to get a complete picture and calculate that into the redemption meaning that with your 5 points at staples to look at that as a redemption of 7.5 but that is just my thinking.

The cardmember agreement online now states the annual fee is “450 to 550”:

What I hate about the latest Amex increases, and now these Chase increases, is that they justify it by adding some "perk" that locks you into one vendor and is not necessarily useful. This is unlike the general perks of earning rate/redemption rate/credits, etc.

its called spending on extra crap we don't need!! forget about the benefit of a discount.. we just start ordering more because we have a discount!!  people aren't fully aware a discount is not free it still going to cost you the actual other 80% your not saving i can go on and on..

Great post!

My AF renews in May I will still utilize the $60 in 2020 and $60 in 2021 (Jan-May) will definitely keep it another year since $120 in DD credit can justify the AF increase for this year. The following year 2021 come may I will have to reevaluate.

I personally used CSR protection many times and rightfully use all its benefits. As an example,  last year I received $400 for delayed baggage and year prior $750 for rental damage, and many more. It will be tempting to cancel but might just be worth keeping.
Always praying for delayed baggage.

After reading the post I wanna apply for the Reserve now.
The thing is, this happened in June with one of my Inks
I made a mistake when entering my Bank Account details and had a payment returned. I fixed it immediately.
Should I be worried about it affecting my approval chances now?

If applying today, how long do I have to downgrade, to be refunded the af? Also, does Chase red flag for downgrades that are done to remove af, after getting the bonus? I know Amex can claw back, but hows Chase?

No product change on any Chase card within 12 months?
What about cancelling after bonus hits?

Have CSP. Was told by PR that need to wait 30 days from time of downgrade or closing account before can apply for CSR. is this true? Any way around it?
