Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

one year rule is only for new accounts
Covid has kept me out of the loop, so I'm a bit rusty. :(  Thanks for the correction.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

So if I already have Chase cards then I can upgrade right away even though this will be a new card?

What do you have already? The bonuses are good now. So, you might want to sign up for a new one 1st, if you don't have it already. If you already have them all, the category ones are better, because you double the limit.

I have 2 regular Freedoms (the ones with categories) I don't have any freedom unlimited, but I still want to downgrade this CSR so I don't think I want to sign up for a new Freedom, especially since I'm planning on getting the CSP once I downgrade.

Downgrading so that I can apply for CSP with SUB, why would I upgrade back rather than apply for new card?

I thought I'm not allowed to have more than one Sapphire product.  Isn't that why I have to downgrade the CSR so that I can apply for a NEW CSP and get the SUB? If I tried to upgrade the Freedom back to a CSR then I would have 2 Sapphires.

You can't get approved for a new application if you currently have a sapphire card. But you can have as many sapphire cards as you want through upgrading.

Is there a reason that I would want to pay the AF for both cards?

technically not but if you wanted the reserve for the redemption value and perks but also wanted to get the 80k sign up, you can downgrade reserve for a little, get the preferred, upgrade the first card back to reserve and then after 12 months from opening preferred, downgrade to another card

I'm new here and I'm not sure if this is the right  place to post this, so sorry in advance if it isn't.
If I upgrade the CSP to CSR, when do I get charged the higher AF; right away or when the CSP's year is up?

Yes, but you need to be prepared to actually cancel.

+1, and how much do you spend on it annually?
