Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

Will it affect my credit negatively if I downgrade my CSR to the Freedom card since it’s the oldest credit card I have?

No, you would retain the credit-age of the CSR so there wouldn't be any impact

Yes, for now until 12/31, though not confirmed if categories will stay the same. Likely they will.

I wrote several times already that PYB is considered permanent.

The question is specifically about dining and groceries.

So I upgraded my freedom to CSR in December 2020 to take advantage of “pay yourself back” feature. After having card for 6 months (July 2021), I figured that I didn’t need it anymore so I downgraded back to freedom and got half my annual fee refunded.

It is now 3 months later, can i upgrade back again without it raising any red flags?

Assuming I can, will I get another $300 travel credit immediately or do I have to wait till December 2021 (1 calendar yr from last received a travel credit)?
I can't speak to riskiness, but yes you will need to wait. It's 1 $300 credit per card account per December to December year.

If you just need a copy of the original request a replacement for damaged card both will work

I don’t think they charge right away and if you cancel it you should get it back either way you can cancel before it arrives at your house)

I don't know for sure but I would think it's highly likely you get the funds back as dollars (just like any other return)

Never tried this, but I think you will receive the refund as a credit as usual

I can tell you this much. Somewhat related. I bought $500 GC at Walmart and then for some reason it immediately reversed the charge and didn't activate the card. So on my statement I had $500 charge and $500 credit. It still let me do the $500 pyb. So I would think this would work on a return as well. This actually happened twice on that day, so I ended up with a negative $1K balance after pyb, which I eventually received refund to bank account.
