One Way Miles TLV - JFK Question.... TIA :-)
« on: March 28, 2011, 02:33:15 PM »
Hi,  I have 76,000 Amex points that I am going to want to use for 2 one way tickets from TLV - JFK. Should I take advantage of the Delta or BA promotional transfer offers or wait until I am ready to book a ticket.  Where should I keep my miles for now?

Thanks for any advice.

Dont transfer to delta because they have horrible availability and dont allow one way redemptions

OK thanks for that but what about BA? How much would a one way fuel surcharge be?

You currently have enough for 2 seats in Economy using CO miles.*A (using CO) has a much bigger chance of having availability the days you want.

So you vote I should leave it in AMEX until time of flight? and then book with CO.

Leave it in Amex until you find availability on CO (or *A partners), then transfer and book ASAP.

if your trip is after september you'll have to transfer the points to co before.    sept 30th is the last day you can transfer amex to co.

I don't understand all of you, Rivky needs 2 ONE   WAY tickets, with CO we can't make one way. so why not transfer to BA with 40% bonus but less chance for availability or Flying blue with some more chances. .

"Can't" means the extra 30 seconds it takes to transfer to United?

If there's availably on CO wouldn't it be less points transferring to ANA and book a CO flight?

This must be one of the most common questions out there, maybe this will settle it once and for all?
If I'm missing any good AMEX transfer methods or if there any mistakes let me know!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Star Alliance:
Using ANA miles
-If there is availability on Continental or USAirways for your dates: Transfer 60,000 points per ticket to ANA for coach or 90,000 points per ticket for business.  If you redeem ANA miles to go to Israel on airlines besides for Continental or USAirways you will be hit with fuel surcharges.
