did you ask someone that's a posek even or your just saying that? yeh I guess that's the easy way out. It goes together with making a mezonos on those loaves of bread that say birchaso mezonos. Theres always the easy way out but then again who are you fooling.

I don't recall seeing that it is the same as a regular fast but iirc it is a biur halacha and a r Akiva Eiger that it is much more lenient

Chacham Ovadia holds anyone who wouldn't fast a regular fast, meinekes etc, doesn't fast this either.

i dont know if everyone shares this minhag, but we dont cut nails on thursday and friday is rosh chodesh av...

Mishna berurah clearly writes you can cut your nails erev shabbos that Tisha baav falls out on shabbos lekovod shabbos the piskei tshuvos brings down he's referring to the first shabbos but second shabbos is usur unless you reg.cut on erev shabbos which is really strange (I didn't get a chance to look up his mare mikomos) first of all the issue to cut nails seemingly comes from a taz and the taz nly asurs shavuh she chal Bo which is definitely not shabbos one so why would the Mishna berurah need to be matir it only because of lekovod shabbos there's is no issur?also the Mishna berurah says not to cut on Friday rosh chodesh so why now would he allow it (even though by sfirah he allows one to cut their hair on rosh chodesh iyar R Moshe writes that is because the reason of R Yehuda Hachosid assurs cutting on Rosh Chodesh was so you should not be mevazeh Rosh Chodesh and not cut your hair before Rosh Chodesh begins however by sfirah you cannot cut your hair before as it's sfira so that is why it will be muttar as R Yehuda Hachosid will not apply..This reasoning would not apply here as you can cut your nails before....)

I went through this a couple of weeks ago. I believe it's either in the mb itself, otherwise it must be brought down by dirshu.

thats the problem with dirshu being printed side to side with the mb. you cant even remember if its the mb or dirshu and then people start quoting things from the mb himself which are really pesakim from dirshu.

terrible comparison. Rishonim are the basis of understanding a gemara. You can't learn a gemara without Rashi.

come on, who you kidding. When's the last time you heard someone make a mistake if rashi or tosafos said the pshat or if it was the gemara. Theres no comparison between rishonim which were written with ruach hakodesh and achrei achronim. Dirshu is not a pirush to understand the mb but rishonim help you understand the gemara better. Another difference is the mishna beruras not from too long ago and when you put other poskim right next to it, it could get you mixed up, and I have heard many mix ups recently. Thats all.

I had heard that as a kid (with the reason that the nail will start to grow back on Shabbos), but as an adult my Rabbi said it doesn't make sense since the nail is constantly growing.
