I'm haven't seen pre-approved offers for a while. I've seen many pre-selected offers, which means that you've been chosen to apply, if u wish, but doesn't mean you'll be approved, and applying will do a hard pull.
are u sure u were pre-approved and not pre-selected?

last time i was in a chase branch the banker i was speaking to told me i had been pre approved for a card i was in a rush and didnt inquire for which one so i was wondering what does pre approved mean. I know chances are is that it is a crappy card but on the off chance it isnt.....

when I went into a chase branch to discuss my accounts with them, the lady told me I was pre-approved for a credit card, and she said all u have to do is apply, and I applied and got approved a week later, and it did do a hard pull.

I can't say for all situations, but by me that's what happened. I was pre-approved in the branch, and I had to apply, and I did get a hard pull.
good luck!

IIRC It's illegal for them to tell you that you're pre-approved and then decline you. Beware of invitations/pre-selections (whatever that even means), those are not at all guaranteed to be approved.

If I Remember Correctly. Just because they said it on the phone, doesn't make it true (or legal).

I got an offer saying I was pre-approved for the Citi AA amex. It's basically an add on to my existing Citi visa. It's been mentioned here before, and I was wondering, will accepting it mean a hard pull?

Probably.
Even though it isn't a new line of credit? Basically they offered me an amex as an add on to my visa whereas using the amex will get me 1.2 miles. They do this because they probably make more money off amex processed cards.

Sorry, didn't read your question closely enough.  If it's just an add-on I have no idea how they work that out.

I thought I read on the forums how some people got the card so I was hoping to hear from their experience. In the meantime I'll PUTPAC and report back
