Is Talc still dangerous ?
« on: August 08, 2016, 11:05:52 PM »
The grooming lounge has a few great powder deodorants, I bought one and we were discussing it, my mother  said talc causes cancer ... my google searches are confusing, some claim that even asbestos free talc is unhealthy ?

If you live in miami in August, its unhealthy to perspire so much.. well unhealthy for your social life

Talc? As in Baby Powder? It's not dangerous because of what's in it. The danger is based on the form it's in.

Would you intentionally knock together two chalkboard erasers and inhale the cloud they make? Breathing up them teensy-tinesy little particles isn't supposed to be so good for the human system. That's what the concern is about.

Anyway, go to the mikveh at 5am when the old men are there and you can see them applying their Gold Bond Medicated Powder. You can see the "ananei hakavod" they create. Take a whiff and see if it makes you cough. ;)

I've heard on 880 that there's a lawsuit against - iirc - johnson & johnson for hiding their knowledge about the dangers of talc namely that it causes cancer

+1 I don't know any specifics, but my father is an environmental defense lawyer (defends the insurance for companies which are believed to have caused environmental damage) and he just told me the other day that while asbestos case are becoming more rare, talc cases are becoming more popular.

The ambulance chasers need to keep busy. Now that lead paint and asbestos are becoming less frequent, they all rush to find the next big thing.

Lead paint didn't go away because of the lawyers.

Lead paint regulations was the most insane regulations in America. Somehow we got an inspection forced on my house, since its pretty old every wall had lead. They make you scrape every wall down, every layer of paint.
Our docter called their BS and said there is many times more lead in the dirt outside your house (which is why the children have a slight miniscule level of lead in thier blood) and the lead in the walls wont change a thing. So we had a guy come down with a new paint that had some type of magnetic chips in it which screws with the gun they use to check for lead.

The way I understand it.  Lead paint that is sealed is NOT a danger.  So paint over all old paint, and voila! Your home and children are now safe from the dangers of lead paint.

Not about saving a dime. It's about greed getting ahead of morals.

http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-baby-powder-cancer-lawsuits/

If you know there's a potential hazard and you market to vulnerable people, that's where the problem lies, be it talc marketed to black females, or payday loans and cash advances to people low on the economic scale, or while perfectly legal: building or renting real estate to people that don't fit with the community, just because it's more profitable, the heck with the community.
