I can't believe no one mentioned this yet.
Ditto clipboard manager, it's better than the built-in Windows one in every way.
If you never used a clipboard manager, you don't know what you're missing. It makes life so much easier.

It has bee mentioned, but it's a super great tool, worth another mention:)

I believe that’s only in windows 11. Also ditto allows you to search by text.

Also I haven’t set it up yet, but in ditto there is a way to share across computers in the same network. I doubt you can do that with windows.

Actually looks like there is a way to sync using your Microsoft account

Personally I don't want my clipboard saved for long enough that I'd need the search, but I hear that. Anything else?

That's the only additional feature that I use but there are other useful features that I haven't explored.

I believe that’s only in windows 11. Also ditto allows you to search by text.

As was mentioned, it exists in Windows 10 (it isn't on by default - press winkey+V to start it).

The version built into Windows 10 is erased when you shut down and holds a limited
number of entries (I think it's 25), after which each new one pushes off the oldest one.
(Also, if you copy in an incognito/private browser window, it will not go to your clipboard history.)

Looks like the second limitation is in Windows 11 as well. i assume the first is as well. the nice thing about ditto is that you can choose how many entries it should save. You can also choose location of database file and sync across devices that way (so you're not locked into your Microsoft account or even network).

A feature for me, I wouldn't want my clipboard saved across all devices

I had a weird issue where some program was stealing focus every few seconds, it was driving me crazy...

Anyways, found this tool, and solved within 2 minutes https://www.happydroid.com/focus

(for those curious, this was the culprit https://github.com/microsoft/wslg/issues/894#issuecomment-1681249719)

ControlFreakMode (formerly known as GoshMode, or something like that ? ). This has been around forever; posting on the off chance that it is useful to someone (like many of my posts).

Rename a folder as ControlFreakMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01c} (You can copy-paste everything from the C to the } )
Opening that folder results in a list of Windows settings in a row. Should be able to see every setting you can access through five clicks on the control panel.

Very cool! This sounds vaguely familiar but I am pretty sure I've never actually tried it before.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

If you close a tab by mistake, Ctrl+Shift+T reopens it. In case there was someone who didn't know this.

Also, this will be obsolete at some point but until then:

Whether it works in a private/incognito window varies by browser (Chrome no, Firefox yes).

Why will it be obsolete, and whats the difference between these 2? And presumably these will both be faster to transfer locally than https://www.justbeamit.com/ ?

https://www.justbeamit.com/ַ and https://rdrop.link/ (and a gazillion others like them) are P2P over the Internet, while https://localsend.org/ is local.

Local can certainly be faster (assuming no other bottlenecks) and can probably be used with the need for a working Internet connection.
