Need shoes
« on: August 10, 2016, 06:32:54 PM »
I'm size 13 3E.

Need black slip-on shoes for everyday wear, and would like to spend in the area of $80.

I had a bad experience with Rockport, but have they improved? Curious to hear your suggestions.

At that size I think there's a lot of availability in the stores like Nordstrom racks the likes... I would just go to a store and pick one out...

I prefer online. Too time consuming to go to a store.

So go to nordstromrack.com (I made up if that's the URL, but I believe that @yakrot is just trying to say that Nordstrom rack carries very big sizes)

Where have bought shoes in the past? Have you had no positive experiences?
I usually buy my shoes on Amazon.

I've been wearing these http://www.rockport.com/mens-dress-shoes/dialed-in-plaintoe/dialedinplaintoe.html in the cap toe style (the link is for plan toe) every yuntif and almost every Shabbos for the past 24 months and I'm very happy with them.

I bought Hush Puppies and was basically happy with them, but not worth the $100 they're going for these day.

Yup. I've walked the 4 mile walk between Har Nof and the kosel many times in them and even once did it round trip in one day. They were perfectly comfortable for all that walking.

My feet spend more time (in aggregate) in my shoes than any other piece of clothing. And my feet carry my entire body wherever I go. I don't compromise one bit on shoes. They must be comfortable and I really prefer if they last long.

For me there's a one word answer: ECCO

And if I have to pay $40 or even $80 more than other shoes, it's money well spent due to greater comfort and double (or more) the usable life.

I'm not a 13E and I don't know if ECCO makes them, but my recommendation for you is to find something that works well for you, and stick to it. It might be worth a trip to Macy's or Shoemania or some other serious shoe store that has a wide selection of brands. Once you find something that works, future purchases will be easier (and you could probably do them online).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I wear only Ecco for the last 12 years, they are very comfortable but they only last for about a year and a half or so.

Wow. I go through Eccos in around six months, but they're still the only shoes I buy.

From my experience with shoes Rockport #1 and Geox#2 and then goes Ecco #2-3, especially the rockport hush puppies are crazy comfortable with all that extra padding, If you were happy I wouldn't change to a different shoe! Did you try to shop it around if they sell that shoe any cheaper! (Ps-Better to spare an extra 20$ to keep your feet in good health, rather then have feet problems when your older! )
Just curios are you over 6feet 1-2? (usually such feet goes with hieght)?

I once sent a pair of ecco's to the company they work with to restore their shoes (nushoe.com) I don't remember why I was sending them in but basically they get back to me that the shoes must be defective bc Ecco shoes are not supposed to wear like mine did. Due to the obvious "defect" they gave me a credit in the amount of a brand new pair...

I burn thru shoes also. After a month of use, if the shoe is junk, I go back to the store I bought them from, and say the exact same thing..."obv junk if this is what happens in a month..." Usually gets me a new pair.

Diff was I wasn't playing shtick and it was a year after I bought them... They volunteered to give me a new pair instead of fixing

Punkt that time I wasn't either playing shtick. The shoes really wore out in a month! Holes in the soles!
