WOW!

Love the GIFs, but the quality is quite bad.

Wow. Omg. This is incredible!

Thanks guys ;D

Its a good thing u didn't!

That would have been plain vindictive

Yeah, I figured that after such a long wait it would be middas Sedom or something.

Shoot with a GoPro, in the pitch dark. Then take the resulting file, downsize it to oblivion, remove most of the color data, and add a ton of dithering, all that so that the final GIF isn't 100MB. Then tell me what kind of quality you'd get out of it...

Now the electricity, that was a sight to behold. All the buildings in Old Havana are literally hundreds of years old (hence the "Old"), so lots of the electricity is jerry-rigged on the outside of the walls using a nightmare of exposed wiring and switches. The light switch in the kitchen looked so dangerous that we didn't turn in off for the duration of the stay for fear of blowing up the apartment, ourselves, or both.

Found a picture I took of the kitchen light switch:

There was also this whatchmacallit on the counter, presumably for boiling up water. Anyone know what it's called?

That's a scary light switch. The pot looks like a percolator, it's for making coffee.

It's a moka pot or macchinetta, basically a stove top espresso maker.

Thanks. I thought that lighter had something to do with it, I guess it didn't in the end.

In either case, it doesn't look like something coming out of that thing will be very tasty (or clean :P).

My father still uses one of those percolators (albeit a significantly cleaner one) to make coffee.  ;D

Lol, somehow I don't think that made it to Cuba yet.

Reading about your apt gave a really good laugh.  I was there a few weeks ago and stayed in the vedado area.  Very nice place for Cuban standards I would recommend if u go back.  Kitchen,  Living room (wooden couches),  dining room and 2 or 3 separate bedrooms. Only the bedrooms have air conditioning.  Very clean, they come in every day to clean and change the linen and towels every other day.  And pretty cheap.

Kind of defeats the purpose if you don't stay in Old Havana...

Tremendous changes, I'd imagine. If you want to visit do it ASAP.

Why? You think they'll do away with communism making travel easy for everyone and thus overrun with tourists, or Raul will be stricter and overturn the current new travel leniencies?
